Steve Smith out for season

The team said Wednesday that Smith will need season-ending surgery on the knee he hurt in Monday night’s win over Minnesota.

He was examined by Dr. Russell Warren at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Tuesday and had an MRI. He injured the articular cartilage in his knee when he was tackled from behind in the 21-3 win in Detroit on Monday.

This is a shame and hope he is all well for next season. Gonna miss him especially this week vs Philly.

In other news: It appears that Mario Manningham will be a go on Sunday after suffering a hip issue this past Monday night.

Well it is time for Nicks and Manningham to step up. Maybe Devin Thomas can help.

Huge loss for Eli. Even though Nicks and Manningham are better than what most teams have Steve Smith is Eli's safety blanket.

I've said it before and I feel strongly about it, we have to get Beckum more involved. Move him around and create mismatches. Eli is struggling and once a team stops our run we aren't gonna know what to do.
