Giants 2011 preseason schedule announced

The Giants will face the Bears on Aug. 22 at New Meadowlands Stadium in their second preseason game - provided there is a preseason this year.
As with much of what we've written and discussed in recent months, what I'm about to lay out for you might wind up meaning absolutely nothing. But that hasn't stopped us before and won't stop us now.

Here is your breakdown of the Giants' opponents for the upcoming preseason -- provided the current lockout doesn't last through the summer:

Aug. 11-15* at Panthers

Aug. 22 vs. Bears (Monday Night Football)

Aug. 25-29* vs. Jets

Sept. 1 (?)* at Patriots

*The exact dates and times of the games against Carolina, the Jets and New England will be determined at a later date. The final game is usually played on the Thursday before Labor Day, so Sept. 1 seems like a likely date for the matchup with New England.

But again, all of this is dependent on the owners and players finding their way through the current labor mess.
