Roster management
Roster Management is a problem
Firstly we try and go into the season with 2 TEs, one of whom is a pure H-back, both TEs have a history of niggling injuries.
I can't believe Linval Joseph has not been active in our first two games. Coughlin's reasoning is special teams.
If Linval Joseph is inactive again, I will be rather unhappy.
Coughlin preaches running the ball and stopping the run as his priorities.
Surely stopping the run involved getting your best DT rotation in there, and frankly that should be all four DTs. Add in that Joseph is our strongest Dlineman and it becomes a bigger problem.
Surely the solution is to have a balanced roster
we have 45 guys active
3 are specialists (Dodge, Tynes, DeOssie)
Here is my rough breakdown of what we should have.
Offense
Starters (10): Manning, Smith, Nicks, Boss, Bradshaw, McKenzie, Snee, O'Hara, Seubert, Diehl
+6 specialists: Rosenfels, Barden, Jacobs, Beatty, Koets, Andrews
Defense
Starters: Tuck, Kiwanuka, Cofield, Canty, Bulluck, Goff, Boley, Webster, Thomas, Phillips, Rolle
+ 4 : Umenyiora, Bernard, Joseph, Grant
Special Teams/Depth
Offense (4): Hedgecock, Beckum, Reynaud, Ware
Defense (7): Pierre-Paul, Sintim, Blackburn, Ross, Wilkinson, B Johnson, M Johnson
Specialists (3): Tynes, Dodge, DeOssie
Don't get me wrong, having guys like Tollefsen and Cruz are great for special teams, but they shouldn't be at the expense of core guys in the trenches.

Re: Roster management
I think Cruz looked decent as a gunner on the Matt Dodge punt where the ball ended up at the 1 yd line.
What has Barden ever proved at WR/ST's over Victor Cruz or Duke Calhoun?
